Tutoring


                                    Need a Tutor?

If you need some academic assistance in a class, and would like to request a tutor, please follow these steps:

1. First, talk to either your coach or your mentor, and the spirit coordinator for advice on how to move forward OR FILL OUT THE EASY ONLINE FORM!
2. Next, contact your professor or teaching assistant for extra help, or attend office hours.
3. If extra help is still needed, consult the spirit coordinator to arrange for tutoring.
4. Fill out the Student/Staff Agreement and bring to your professor to complete. Bring back to spirit coordinator.
5. Spirit coordinator checks for matching tutors from the Spirit tutor pool. If there is a match, put the students in contact with each other.
6. If there is no Spirit tutor match, the spirit coordinator will call the department to inquire about a free tutor, teaching assistant, or a paid tutor for the student.
7. The Spirit coordinator will forward the tutor’s contact information to the student to arrange a meeting. Student must contact the tutor within 48 hours of receiving the contact information.

If you are requesting a tutor, please make note:

- All tutoring requests will be kept confidential.
- You must keep a log of hours and topics discussed during your tutoring session.
- After the first meeting with a tutor, you must update the spirit coordinator on the progress made during the session within 24 hours. This is to ensure that the tutor is effective and the student is eager to learn.
- The spirit coordinator must be notified if the tutoring will continue.
- A tutor should be requested at least two weeks before results must commence.

If you are interested in providing academic support to your teammates, apply to become a Spirit Program tutor! Spirit Program tutors will be paid by the hour, which will be in the form of a deducation from the tutor's Nationals fundraising balance.
